AVAILABLE AFTER 9/24. Kaela and Linette were born around October 2008. They came from a family that surrendered them due to a change in circumstances that left them no longer able to care for them. They were initially purchased from a petstore as babies. Both girls are very sweet, inquisitive, and friendly. Kaela is the more shy of the two and Linette is more outgoing. Both enjoy their veggies, pellets, and fresh hay. Kaela came to the rescue with very overgrown top incisors (front teeth) and no bottom incisors. She had trouble eating and was underweight. Her family had not properly addressed the problem. It is possible she caused the damage to herself by rattling her cage with her teeth to get attention. The vet has inspected her and we are currently monitoring her to see if her bottom incisors will re-grow. Without the bottom incisors, she is unable to grind down her top teeth the way that other guinea pigs normally do. Consequently, she will need her top incisors trimmed by a competent exotics vet using a high speed drill every 4-6 weeks for the remainder of her life. She also needs to have her veggies and fruits grated or shredded so that she can eat them. Otherwise, she is healthy and has gained weight since coming to the rescue. We will need to have assurance from her new family that Kaela's special care will be provided on an ongoing basis to spare her any more suffering. Linette is also in good health and her teeth are fine. If you have a little extra time and love to give to Kaela and Linette, and are interested in meeting and possibly adopting them, please send an e-mail to guineapigs@smallangelsrescue.org. The adoption fee for Kaela and Linette will be $60. Small Angels Rescue will require this pair of piggies to live in a Cubes and Coroplast cage of at least 2 cubes by 4 cubes, with a lid if you have other pets. This will give them plenty of space to run around and play. If you would like to find out more about these cages please visit the website www.cavycages.com .You can either build one for yourself or buy one at the time of adoption. Please note that you must live within approximately an hour's drive to Mt. Airy, MD to adopt our guinea pigs. Thank you for your interest in adopting from Small Angels Rescue. Both are sweet and cuddly and play together in their cage. Lucille is a bit of a diva and is very curious. Reed, in particular, doesnt like loud noises; he is calm and shy. Both are healthy and, Reed, weighing in at a whopping 3 lbs, 3 ounces, certainly enjoys his guinea pig diet! Lucille, at a more modest 2 lbs, 3 ounces, seems to enjoy the salads more. She is a lady. Juno is a short haired neutered male guinea pig who came to us from a local animal shelter. He had originally been surrendered because his first family could no longer care for him and he is estimated to have been born in 2007. He is short haired, white with brown and ginger. Juno was very dirty and frightened when he arrived, but he settled down nicely and although he is inclined to be shy, he is happy enough to be cuddled once he has been picked up. Malinda is a short haired little girl piggie who is white with brown and black. She was born to a piggie in the Rescue on 2/15/08. Malinda is quite a little character, with plenty to say :) Juno and Malinda met in foster care and became firm friends and are obviously very happy together.
