Leandro and Zara both have a tale to tell; Leandro was rescued from a local animal shelter when we heard they were going to euthanize him and Zara was surrendered to an animal shelter when the weather turned cold after living with a homeless woman in a park for a few months.

Leandro is a big cuddly boy; he is a black and ginger short haired guy and Zara is a perky little lady who is a charcoal gray and white short haired with one pretty little pink ear and one black one. They met in foster care and became the best of friends. Both guinea pigs enjoy their Oxbow pellets, hay and daily veggies, too.

If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Leandro and Zara, please send an e-mail to guineapigs@smallangelsrescue.org. The adoption fee for Leandro and Zara will be $90, as they are both altered. Small Angels Rescue will require this pair of piggies to live in a Cubes and Coroplast cage of at least 2 cubes by 4 cubes, with a lid if you have other pets. This will give them plenty of space to run around and play. If you would like to find out more about these cages please visit the website www.cavycages.com .You can either build one for yourself or buy one at the time of adoption.

Name: Kaela & Linette
Sex: Female
Color/Type: White, Brown, Ginger/Abyssinian
Age: 1 Year , 9 Months
Altered: No
Location: SmAngels
  Frederick, MD
Submit an application to adopt me

Kaela and Linette were born around October 2008. They came from a family that surrendered them due to a change in circumstances that left them no longer able to care for them. They were initially purchased from a petstore as babies. Both girls are very sweet, inquisitive, and friendly. Kaela is the more shy of the two and Linette is more outgoing. Both enjoy their veggies, pellets, and fresh hay.

Kaela came to the rescue with very overgrown top incisors (front teeth) and no bottom incisors. She had trouble eating and was underweight. Her family had not properly addressed the problem. It is possible she caused the damage to herself by rattling her cage with her teeth to get attention. The vet has inspected her and we are currently monitoring her to see if her bottom incisors will re-grow. Without the bottom incisors, she is unable to grind down her top teeth the way that other guinea pigs normally do. Consequently, she will need her top incisors trimmed by a competent exotics vet using a high speed drill every 4-6 weeks for the remainder of her life. She also needs to have her veggies and fruits grated or shredded so that she can eat them. Otherwise, she is healthy and has gained weight since coming to the rescue. We will need to have assurance from her new family that Kaela's special care will be provided on an ongoing basis to spare her any more suffering. Linette is also in good health and her teeth are fine.

If you have a little extra time and love to give to Kaela and Linette, and are interested in meeting and possibly adopting them, please send an e-mail to guineapigs@smallangelsrescue.org. The adoption fee for Kaela and Linette will be $60.

Name: Clarence
Sex: Male
Color/Type: Cream & White/Long Haired
Age: 4 Years , 2 Months
Altered: Neutered
Location: SmAngels
  Frederick, MD

Clarence is one tough little piggie who needs a Twilight Home; you provide the love and daily care (including monitoring his weight and general condition) and Small Angels will take care of providing necessary veterinary care for the remainder of his life.

Clarence is thought to be a senior piggie of unknown age. He has had successful surgery on an abscess in his jaw along with the extraction of a bad tooth several months ago. He loves life and is active and friendly. He enjoys the ladies, and with a little extra love and attention, he just might be the next Bachelor.

Clarence eats well (he especially enjoys Spring Mix) and is currently maintaining his weight. He likes other guinea pigs and loves to cuddle. He is a very endearing little boy who also needs regular gentle brushing and an occasional bath as he is long-haired.

We would like Clarence to live either within easy reach of Mt Airy MD or Purcellville VA (where he receives his veterinary care); preferably with, or in an adjoining cage to other guinea pigs for company. If you are interested in meeting Clarence and possibly providing a home for him, please send an e-mail to guineapigs@smallangelsrescue.org.

Reed is a neutered male guinea pig; he is short-haired and tri-colored. Lucille is a short-haired, tri-colored female. Reed has had a tumultuous life. He originally came to us from a family whose home was in foreclosure and could no longer afford to care for him. He was adopted as a companion for Lucille and returned to our care (along with Lucille) after his caregiver moved to an apartment that did not allow animals.

Both are sweet and cuddly and play together in their cage. Lucille is a bit of a diva and is very curious. Reed, in particular, doesnt like loud noises; he is calm and shy. Both are healthy and, Reed, weighing in at a whopping 3 lbs, 3 ounces, certainly enjoys his guinea pig diet! Lucille, at a more modest 2 lbs, 3 ounces, seems to enjoy the salads more. She is a lady.

If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Reed and Lucille, please send an e-mail to guineapigs@smallangelsrescue.org. The adoption fee for Reed and Lucille will be $70. Small Angels Rescue will require this pair of piggies to live in a Cubes and Coroplast cage of at least 2 cubes by 4 cubes, with a lid if you have other pets. Jaron is a male guinea pig who was unwanted when his owner went away to college and could no longer keep him. He is an attractive boy with short brown, white, and cream hair who was born in July 2009.

Jaron has a slight residual head-tilt and some nerve damage/dry eye as a result of an ear infection that was successfully successfully treated by our veterinarian. He needs some eye-moistening ointment applied daily to help him be more comfortable. What he needs to complete his happiness is a lady guinea pig to love; he is neutered, so they will not have to worry about babies coming along.

We will not adopt Jaron to live alone as guinea pigs are social animals. If you have a lady guinea pig who might be interested in meeting Jaron, please send an e-mail to guineapigs@smallangelsrescue.org. We usually have at least one other single male guinea pig available, so we can make the best match.

Niall and Sedric are a pair of adult male guinea pigs that were abandoned in their pet carrier on the sidewalk near a local animal shelter; fortunately they were found by a member of the shelter staff before suffering any ill-effects. They were in good health, but very dirty with overgrown nails when we took them in. After some TLC, they are beautifully clean and manicured.

Niall is black & white and short haired. Sedric is a tri-colored Abyssinian. Both are neutered. We are unsure of their ages. They are very well bonded piggies and are friendly, cuddly, and easy to handle. They enjoy a variety of vegetables.

Name: Adrian & Suzette
Sex: Male
Color/Type: Black, Ginger, and White/Short-haired
Age: 1 Year , 5 Months
Altered: Neutered
Location: SmAngels
  Frederick, MD
Submit an application to adopt me

Adrian is a tri-colored short-haired young adult male. Originally a pet store piggy, he was surrendered to a local animal shelter for unknown reasons. Suzette is a little girl piggie who was surrendered to a different local animal shelter for an unknown reason as one of a pair. Sadly her friend was adopted out and she was left behind all alone. She was very afraid when we took her in and hid most of the time.

Suzette is only about 4 months old, still quite a baby really. She is very petite and adorable; not to mention lightening fast in the cage. She is currently being socialized in foster care. Adrian is shy and sweet.

Adrian and Suzette became best friends from the first introduction and they are both happier, outgoing, and more content together. They are very close and often sit together in their house. This pair will require patient and gentle handling to allow them both to continue to grow in confidence.

They are eating Cavy Performance for the next 2 months (until Suzette is 6 months old) after which time they can gradually be transitioned to Cavy Cuisine.

If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Adrian and Suzette, please send an e-mail to guineapigs@smallangelsrescue.org. The adoption fee for Adrian and Suzette will be $70. Small Angels Rescue will require this pair of piggies to live in a Cubes and Coroplast cage of at least 2 cubes by 4 cubes, with a lid if you have other pets. Age: 1 Year
Altered: Neutered
Location: SmAngels

Jaco and Kerwin were strays that were found in someone's back yard and taken to a local animal shelter. They have been well cared for and are in good condition. We estimate that they are around one year old. Both have been neutered.

Jaco is a tri-colored short haired. Kerwin is a cream and white shorthaired crested. They have so far eaten Romaine lettuce, peppers, celery, carrots, grapes and spinach and seem to be used to a good variety. They eat quite a lot of Timothy hay and Cavy Cuisine pellets.

They are still fairly skittish in their cage and will need gentle handing to be socialized, but they do enjoy lap time and will surely become less skittish with regular handling.

If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Jaco and Kerwin, please send an e-mail to guineapigs@smallangelsrescue.org. The adoption fee for Jaco and Kerwin will be $80.
